Crochet Rectangle - DVD player cover

Hello everyone. This is a tutorial on how to make a Granny rectangle. I made this one for DVD player.

Materials:
  • Maroon and White yarn
  • 3.5 mm crochet hook

Abbreviations:
  • Sc - Single Crochet
  • Dc - Double Crochet
  • Ch - Chain
  • Sl St - Slip Stitch
Pattern:
The basic granny rectangle pattern is from the 'Crochet Geek'

NOTE:  I have done 18 rounds in total (Round 1 and 2 --> Maroon ; Round 3 and 4 --> White ; and so on ; Round 17 and 18 --> Maroon)

Border for the Granny Rectangle:

      Rnd 1:
  • With white yarn, ch 3 (acts a a double crochet) in the ch 2 space. Ch 3 and 1 Dc in the next ch 1/ch 2 space. Continue this for the entire rectangle.
  • Then sl st with top of the ch 3 (that acts as Dc)
You will have something that looks like this:

      Rnd 2:
  • Ch 1. In the ch 3 space created in round one, make [1 sc, 5 dc, 1 sc].
  • [1 Sc, 5 Dc and 1 Sc] in every ch 3 space around.
  • Sl st wit the first sc made in the beginning of this round.
You will get wavy design like this:

This is the completed granny rectangle with the border.

This is how it looks on the DVD player :)

I loved the border :) Why I chose this color combination was because i have a same colored granny square for the table lamp stool. You can make in whatever color you  like or in a plain color as well.

Happy Crocheting everyone :)
